Our effort began as a push to create a new school district outside of the jurisdiction of East Baton Rouge Parish School System. Through the legislative process we were able to create the school district but not able to pass a 2/3 majority constitutional amendment that would fund the schools. Throughout the process we were told that we were only a loosely knit group of neighborhoods and not a city. This effort will create a new city and bring high quality school options into the City of St. George.
We want to create an outstanding community based, public city school system with a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success through development-appropriate instruction and classroom discipline that allows for individual differences and learning styles. We believe parents, not school administrators or politicians, should have the choice in their children’s education. We strive to have our parents, alumni, teachers, and community members actively involved in our students’ learning. Our vision is to be the state’s leading school system.
